These terms cover your use of CalorieSmart, operated by Yabsira Gugsa. By creating an account you agree to them.
What CalorieSmart is
CalorieSmart reads receipts and reports what was bought, with a verdict on each item. It is a tool for a coach and their client to talk about food with better information than memory provides.
It is not medical advice
Nothing in CalorieSmart is medical, dietary, or clinical advice, and it is not a substitute for a qualified professional. Do not use it to manage a medical condition. If you have an eating disorder, are pregnant, or have any condition affected by diet, talk to a doctor or registered dietitian.
The numbers are estimates
Calories and macros come from matching a printed receipt line to a nutrition database. That match can be wrong: receipts abbreviate, brands differ, and portion sizes are frequently not stated.
Where we are not confident, we mark the item unconfirmed rather than guessing, and unconfirmed items are excluded from the totals. That is a deliberate design choice — but it does not make the confirmed numbers exact. Treat them as a good approximation, not a measurement.
Your account
- You must be 16 or older.
- Give accurate information when you sign up.
- Keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
- Upload only receipts that are yours to upload.
If you are a coach
You will see your clients' purchase history. That is personal information about a real person who trusted you with it. You agree to:
- Use it only to coach that client.
- Never share it, publish it, or show it to anyone else.
- Add a client only with their knowledge and agreement.
- Tell us if you think an account has been accessed by someone else.
Depending on where you operate, you may have your own legal obligations to the people whose data you can see. These terms do not replace them.
What we ask you not to do
- Do not try to reach another user's data.
- Do not automate bulk uploads or attempt to overwhelm the service.
- Do not upload anything unlawful, or anything that is not a receipt.
- Do not resell or redistribute the service.
Uploads are rate limited per account. This is to keep costs and capacity predictable, not to get in your way; if a limit is genuinely blocking real use, email privacy@caloriesmart.app and we will raise it.
Availability
The service is provided as-is. We do not promise it will always be available or error-free, and we may change or discontinue features. If we are shutting the service down, we will give you notice and a way to get your data out.
Ending it
You can stop using CalorieSmart at any time and delete your account yourself from Settings, or ask us to by emailing privacy@caloriesmart.app. We may suspend an account that breaches these terms — normally after telling you why, unless the breach makes that unwise.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of CalorieSmart, including decisions made on the basis of its estimates. Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maryland, USA.
Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top changes when we do, and we will tell you directly about anything material.
